World Poetry Day with the most beautiful verses!

Srpska književnost kroz vekove
20 Mar 2024

Today, the world celebrates the art that knows no boundaries – poetry. World Poetry Day is an opportunity to highlight the power of words, their beauty, and the strength that can change our perspective on the world. At the heart of this celebration, we want to reflect on the rich heritage of Serbian poetry and highlight some of the most significant poets who have enriched this art.

Serbian poetry is deeply rooted in history, culture, and the spirit of the people. Throughout the centuries, poets have succeeded in conveying the essence of life, emotions, and spirituality through their verses. Their works have left a lasting imprint on Serbian literature and inspired generations.

And how else to celebrate our poets than through their verses! Therefore, enjoy the beauty of the written word from Dis to Radmila Lazić in the following text!

Noćas ljubav dolazila k meni,

Mrtva ljubav iz sviju vremena,

Zaljubljeni, smrću zagrljeni

Pod poljupcem mrtvih uspomena.

Vladislav Petković Dis, Nirvana.

Sad smo bezbrižni, laki i nežni.

Pomislimo: kako su tihi, snežni

vrhovi Urala.

Rastuži li nas kakav bledi lik,

što ga izgubismo jedno veče,

znamo da, negde, neki potok,

mesto njega rumeno teče!

Miloš Crnjanski, Sumatra.

Probudim se

nad krevetom oluja.

Padaju zrele višnje

u blato.

U čamcu

zapomožu

raščupane žene.

Miodrag Pavlović, Probudim se.

I ni briga me nije

Što u dnu srčane aorte kroz dugu jesenju noć

Pesnik sa banditom boj bije!

 Rade Drainac, Bandit ili pesnik.

Među dlanovima

Grejao sam ulicu

Zakucava eksere.

Usisava po celu noć,

Čekajući Odiseja da se vrati.

Radmila Lazić, Pesnikinja.

Read poetry every day, little by little!
